Manchester United’s summer of frustration could be coming to an end with Erik ten Hag closing in on his first signing as manager.
Ten Hag will take his first training session at Carrington on Monday, with those players that haven’t been on international duty reporting for the start of pre-season. There was a hope that a number of new signings would be accompanying the returning stars, but United have endured a difficult start to the window.
Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is the Red Devils’ top target and reports now suggest that a deal is close to being agreed with the Blaugrana and that his transfer could be confirmed by the end of the month.
Christian Eriksen is also set to confirm his decision with a number of clubs interested in the Danish free agent. In terms of outgoings, United were forced to dampen speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo could leave, after his agent reportedly held talks with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.
