Late last month, the Boston Celtics agreed to a blockbuster three-team trade, sending Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies, while getting Kristaps Porzingis from the Wizards.
Smart, who up until this point had played his entire career in Boston, says he was lied to by the Celtics.
The Celtics apparently told him he wasn’t being traded.
“It was definitely shocking … Especially since the week before I was already told that we were good … there were no trade talks with me and I was good.”

Smart, of course, is not the first player to be lied to by his front office.
Still, that doesn’t make it any easier to take.
The Celtics will have a new look heading into the 2023-24 regular season.
