Emma Thompson has transformed into villainous Miss. Trunchbull for Matilda The Musical – and we cannot wait to relive our childhood!
Our excitement reached fever-pitch as Netflix dropped the trailer for its film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic book (not to be confused with the 1996 film starring Mara Wilson).
And while the trailer looked fun with its all-singing, all-dancing cast of children, including the titular character Matilda herself, we were abruptly reminded of Miss Trunchbull’s child-hating ways, thanks to Emma Thompson (AKA our national treasure).

Judging by the trailer, we get to relive the iconic scene where Bruce Bogtrotter is forced to eat a giant chocolate cake. Also remember when Amanda Thripp was swung around by the Trunch by her pigtails? Looks like we’ll get that content too.
Who directs the project and brings it to life for us?
Director Matthew Warchus helms the projects, while the original music and lyrics are by Tim Minchin, and Ellen Kane is responsible for the brilliant choreography.
