Motherwell have sacked Steven Hammell as manager after their Scottish Cup defeat to Raith Rovers on Saturday.
The Premiership side were defeated 3-1 by the Championship club in Kirkcaldy on Saturday afternoon.
It comes after a poor run of results that left the Steelmen sitting 11th in the Premiership and only ahead of bottom-club Dundee United on goal-difference.
Motherwell are without a win in their last 11 league games since the 1-0 win at Dundee United in October.
Hammell’s assistant Brian Kerr has also left the club and Stuart Kettlewell will take charge of the first team on an interim basis.
Revealing the news on Saturday, just hours after the defeat to Raith, a Motherwell statement said: “We have parted company with manager Steven Hammell.
“Stuart Kettlewell has agreed to take interim charge of the first-team until a permanent appointment has been made.
“Steven Hammell is and will forever be a colossus in Motherwell Football Club history,” chairman Jim McMahon said.
“Unfortunately, due to a number of factors, his time in charge hasn’t worked out the way we all really hoped it would.
“Although this decision has been difficult, we feel it is necessary as we look towards the last third of the Premiership season.
“I want to thank Steven and Brian for all their efforts and wish them both all the very best in the future.”
The chairman and non-executive directors have begun the recruitment process to appoint the next manager.
