Mourinho sends Arteta harsh Arsenal transfer reminder with Aouar bargain steal

Arsenal desperately need to sign a midfielder ahead of next season as Mikel Arteta must improve the strength in depth in the middle of the park. However, it seems that the Gunners could be on the verge of losing out on another target.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma are interested in signing Lyon’s Houssem Aouar. The Frenchman was reportedly a target for the Gunners, meaning they could miss out on two ideal midfield signings in the space of a week amid Yves Bissouma’s proposed move to Tottenham.

Aouar would be an ideal signing for Arsenal considering his cheap price tag. With time to spare for Arsenal to hijack Jose Mourinho’s potential transfer for the Frenchman, it is a deal that Edu should look to explore.

According to French news outlet Foot Mercato, Real Betis are interested in signing Aouar in the summer. The report goes on to say that Lyon valued him at £12.6m. The Gunners will be in desperate need of a midfielder at the end of the season. Considering the club’s previous interest in Aouar, it’s a price that Edu should be welcoming with open arms.

Earlier in the season, Italian news outlet Calciomercato claimed that the Gunners were keen on signing Aouar. The midfielder has changed his agent which could be a game-changer from the previous attempt to sign him. Arsenal have made it clear the type of midfielder they are going to sign in the summer transfer window. It is because of this that Aouar would be the ideal signing for the Gunners ahead of next season.

The north London side has seemed to target players who have excellent ball carrying skills. With Thomas Partey anchoring the midfield and Martin Odegaard being tasked with leading the team in creating chances, having a midfielder who can successfully carry the ball from defence to midfield is crucial.

The Gunners are in desperate need of a midfielder due to shortages in the position, which also coincides with a lack of quality and it is something that Arteta needs to address. A transfer value of £12.6m for Aouar would be a steal for Arsenal and prevents Edu from being financially strained when looking to strengthen other areas of the team.
