TL;DR

  • A new leak regarding the Galaxy S23 has emerged.
  • The leak seems to confirm a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip may be used for the Galaxy S23 series.
  • The leak also seems to confirm a downgraded selfie camera for the Ultra.

Even though we’re less than a week away from launch day, Galaxy S23 leaks keep on coming in. This time, a leak is seemingly confirming the chip that may be used in the flagship and a camera downgrade for the Ultra.

Reliable leaker Roland Quandt took to Twitter today to show off two new images. These images seem to further support what we’ve heard about the Galaxy S23 lineup.

The first image Quandt revealed looks to be marketing material that appears to reiterate the fact that Samsung is using a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Specifically, it’s an image of a Qualcomm chip with the branding “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy.”

This news comes only a day after a different leak suggested the chipset would make it into all global models of the lineup.

The second image that Quandt shared is a comparison list that offers a side-by-side look at all three models. Something interesting that can be gleaned from the image is that the base model seems to be hanging in there pretty tight with the other two variants. Specs like brightness, storage, and refresh rate are similar across the board.

As far as what’s shown here, the base model doesn’t appear to make any big compromises compared to its siblings. The biggest differences are the size, battery compacity, and the Ultra’s 200MP shooter.

Speaking of cameras, this leak also seems to support what we expected of the Ultra’s selfie camera. It appears it was downgraded from 40MP to 12MP this year.

With Samsung Unpacked scheduled for next Wednesday, we won’t have to rely on leaks for much longer to satisfy our hunger for details.
