New Perth salons to deliver TIME-SAVING appointments

With modern beauty standards demanding more of our time than ever before, it can feel like an insurmountable task trying to keep up with appointments.

Even if your regimen is comparatively simple to that of a Kardashian, squeezing in a routine maintenance booking to an already jam-packed schedule may require advanced calendar Tetris skills, or else a day of annual leave from work.

Someone who knows this all too well is award-winning hairstylist Faye Redfern, who in addition to directing the leading salon HER on Oxford also has two young sons, the littlest just four months old.

To streamline the process for clients like her who are pinched for time, Redfern recently added a manicure bar to her Mt Hawthorn studio.

She says her vision is to create a hybrid space dedicated to women’s well-being.

“A lot of women would come to their hair appointments and say ‘now I have to go and get my brows, nails or waxing done, and that’s another carpark and good coffee shop to find nearby’,” Redfern says.

“It can take your whole entire day to drive around the city to get all your beauty treatments done. The new standard of beauty is more complex than it used to be.

“We had so many requests for nail treatments while clients are sitting in the chair, so this has been in the works for a while.”

As many of Redfern’s clients are entrepreneurs, she has also made tweaks to the salon to allow them to work remotely, including installing a colour bar at the optimum height for laptop use.

“Consumers are expecting a lot more now from businesses, as there are so many of us,” she explains.

“It is about listening to what they need and want, and what their lifestyle is, rather than just what foils they want in their hair.”

And it seems other beauty providers are picking up on this demand with their own time-saving hacks.

A new venture for those on the go — quite literally — is Ayre Hair, which has set up shop at Perth Airport Terminal 4.

A new venture for those on the go — quite literally — is Ayre Hair, which has set up shop at Perth Airport Terminal 4.

Those who may have left their beauty treatments until the very last moment can book in for a facial, blow dry or massage so they can board their flight feeling refreshed before the trip has begun.

Meanwhile, La Sol Tan’s new premises in Scarborough and Cottesloe represent Perth’s first 24/7 spray-tanning studios.

Rather than being at the mercy of when a spray-tan technician can fit them in, members turn up to the automated tan booths and control their experience via the latest technologies.

Hopefully this is a sign we can save our annual leave days for actual holidays, not appointments.
