Next Bond – Star’s odds slash threatens Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill lead

Almost two years on from the release of No Time To Die and fans continue to speculate over who the next James Bond will be.

It’s been 18 years since Daniel Craig was cast after the Casino Royale auditions, so for Hollywood hopefuls to bag a screen test for Bond 26 is gold dust.

As it stands, Aaron Taylor-Johnson leads the way at Coral with odds of 9-4 to be cast as the new 007.

Meanwhile, just behind him on 7-2 is Henry Cavill, who famously lost out to Craig in the last round of auditions.

Nevertheless, a shake-up this morning has resulted in one star’s odds being slashed and gaining on these two frontrunners.

Coral’s John Hill announced this morning: “Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page has attracted a flurry of support in our betting to become the next James Bond.

“He is back at the top end of the market and is he sure to be under consideration as a replacement for Daniel Craig.”

The 35-year-old’s odds have been cut from 6-1 to 4-1 in the last few hours.

Page, who starred in Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves earlier this year, is now drawing with James Norton on 4-1.

Just behind them are Tom Hardy on 7-1, Paapa Essiedu on 8-1, Jack Lowden on 12-1 and both Richard Madden and Callum Turner on 14-1.

Further back are Aidan Turner on 16-1 and Idris Elba, Sope Dirisu and Luke Evans on 20-1.
