If the video game Gran Turismo was a major part of your life at some point over the last few decades, the new Hollywood flick, which shares the same name as the iconic simulation game, is going to be a must-see. The film follows the story of British race car driver Jann Mardenborough, played by actor Archie Madekwe, who first participated in a GT Academy event in the mid-aughts, where top Gran Turismo gamers were given the chance to win on-screen and then awarded with real-life track experience. Today, Mardenborough is a well-known name in the motorsport world—but prior to GT Academy, he didn’t have any meaningful track experience.

South African-Canadian Neill Blomkamp directed the movie, and while it has an A-list cast—in addition to Madekwe there’s David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Djimon Hounsou—it’s the film’s Nissan GT-R NISMO that arguably has the most star power.

The 2014 Nissan R35 GT-R-8A01 you see here is the actual car Mardenborough drove during some monumental moments in his career. He even got back behind the wheel of it to film some of the stunt scenes for the movie. And now that car is up for sale via Silverstone Auctions.

“The GT-R had two excellent results in the Nurburgring 24HRS with a ninth position in 2015 and an 11th place in 2016 in a well-documented, epic battle with Bentley for tenth and 11th place,” the listing for the auction reads. “Besides Jann Mardenborough, our GT-R GT3 was driven by other GT Academy winners including Ricardo Sanchez, Gaetan Paletou, Lucas Ordonez and Matt Simmons.”

It’s not only a vehicle with a storied automotive history, but it’s now a piece of movie memorabilia, too.

The GT-R is currently owned by Darren Cox, the creator of the GT Academy where Mardenborough got his start – he inspired Orlando Bloom’s character in the movie – and the vehicle is estimated to rake in somewhere between £225,000 and £275,000 [CDN$380,000 and CDN$465,000]when it hits the auction block on August 25.
