Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 release date speculation

When is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 release date? The budget graphics card won’t be the most powerful GPU in team green’s current generation arsenal, but it doesn’t have to be. Cards of its calibre typically prove to be the most popular among gamers, despite their comparative lack of performance, thanks to the value they offer.

The prospective popularity of the RTX 4060 could make it the best graphics card in waiting. Support for Nvidia DLSS 3 and Frame Generation will bolster its chances at securing the GPU top spot, providing the pixel pusher’s price point isn’t too high.

When is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 release date?

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 will likely arrive in April 2023, but no formal date has been announced yet. That said, we’ll likely see the RTX 4060 Ti  before the budding budget champion emerges. The will apparently use the same GPU as the RTX 4070 Ti, and production may have already started.

While we’re still waiting on an official launch date, leaked Nvidia RTX 4060 photos are already making the rounds online. While there’s some confusion as to whether the GPU in question is a Ti variant or not, the images could mean the graphics card will arrive soon, provided they’re both legitimate and Nvidia doesn’t change its mind at the last minute.

As for the Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti, there’s reason to believe it’ll arrive in May 2023, just before the RTX 4050.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 price speculation

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 price should fall between $399-$499, as we suspect it’ll be more expensive than its predecessor. This is a relatively safe suspicion as the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 debuted with much higher MSRPs than their previous generation equivalents, with team green increasing prices by $200-$500 USD.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 specs rumours

The RTX 4060 won’t be the top dog in terms of lofty specs, but if it balances performance and price, it’ll win over the hearts of budget builders.

Here are the rumoured RTX GeForce 4060 specs:

 Nvidia RTX 4060 specs
VRAM 8GB GDDR6
Boost clock 2,535
Base clock 2,310
CUDA cores 3,072
RT cores 28
Tensor Cores 96
Bus width 128-bit

According to the latest leaks, the desktop RTX 4060 graphics card could be a laptop GPU in disguise, as it’ll apparently use the same AD107 chip as mobile rigs. Naturally, Nvidia hasn’t confirmed specs for its 60-series card, so it’s best to take early reports with a grain of salt.

Gigabyte has also let Nvidia RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 GPU info slip, as patch notes for its Control Centre suite namedropped both cards. Notes for the software suggest the card will come armed with 8GB VRAM, which matches up with earlier insider tidbits.

The best power supply should be more than enough to satiate the mainstream GeForce GPU, but rumours suggest the RTX 4060 could consume more power than the RTX 3070. So, if you’re planning on upgrading your low-spec rig, you might want to switch out your PSU.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 benchmark rumours

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 is expected to offer performance close to the RTX 3070. Recent whispers hint that the Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti may only offer RTX 3070 performance, which means the non-Ti version would, theoretically, pack less of a punch.

The RTX 4060 Ti may also share same base clock speed as the RTX 4070 Ti, meaning the RTX 4060 should be theoretically slower. Again, Nvidia hasn’t confirmed any specs for its 4060 series as of yet, so we’ll need to wait and see how it actually fairs against 70-class cards.

However, Nvidia DLSS 3 Frame Generation will help the budget card punch above its weight, and ultimately demonstrate that the RTX 4090 isn’t as important as the RTX 4060 when it comes to this feature.

We’ll be able to provide our own benchmark results when the RTX 4060 arrives on the scene, comparing it with the results in our RTX 4080 review and other graphics cards.

Can’t wait for the RTX 4060? We’d suggest checking out our Nvidia RTX 4070 review while you wait. Not only is it the cheapest RTX 4000 GPU currently on the market, but it offers great 1440p performance and GeForce tools like DLSS 3.
