The second incident of Ola S1 Pro electric scooter front fork breaking has been reported in as many months. This time the front wheel can be seen completely dislodged from the body. The user has asked for a design change and replacement to which the company responded that its “scooters undergo rigorous quality and performance assessment across different terrains and riding conditions in India… and the recently reported incidents of front fork breakage are due to isolated high impact accidents.” The fork, for the unaware, keeps the wheel connected to the scooter’s handlebar. Any damage to it could lead to serious damage to the rider.

Sreenadh Menon took it to Twitter to share the image of the Ola S1 Pro with a broken front fork. He wrote, “the front fork is breaking even in small speed driving and it is a serious and dangerous thing we are facing now, we would like to request that we need a replacement or design change on that part and save our life from a road accident due to poor material used.”

However, later, the user commented on the tweet that the Ola S1 Pro in the picture doesn’t belong to him. He only shared it because he wanted to get “OLA management’s attention regarding the safety concern”.

The company has released an official statement regarding the incident saying that vehicle safety and quality standards are of paramount importance at Ola. Ola today has more than 50,000 scooters on the road. So far, our scooters have travelled over ~45 million cumulative km on Indian roads. The recently reported incidents of front fork breakage are due to isolated high impact accidents. All our scooters undergo rigorous quality and performance assessments across different terrains and riding conditions in India.
