OPPO App Market Now Offers Fortnite On Android In Southeast Asia

0

OPPO today has officially announced that it has partnered with Epic Games to offer the latter’s popular Fortnite video game on Android via the OPPO App Market in Southeast Asia. More specifically in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and India. Strangely enough, the press release noted that the game has been available to download via its platform since early October this year, and it is unclear why the brand has taken this long to officially announce it.

However, it should be noted that Fornite is only supported on a number of OPPO smartphones for the time being. According to the company, users can enjoy the popular online battle royale title on the newly launched Find N3, as well as the Find X3 Pro, Find X5 Pro, Find X6 Pro, and the Reno Pro+. In case you haven’t noticed yet, all of the aforementioned models feature different iterations of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon chips, which could mean that support for OPPO phones equipped with MediaTek or Unisoc based SoCs are still unavailable at this time.

It is also worth noting that the OPPO App Market is the second digital storefront on Android to officially offer Fortnite after Samsung’s own Galaxy Store. In case you’ve forgotten, Epic Games and Google are still caught in a major legal dispute, which resulted in the latter booting the battle royale title out from its Google Play platform back in 2020. Despite this, it is quite apparent that the video game publisher and developer still wants a piece of the Android pie by seeking support from phone makers instead.

In any case, users not on Samsung or OPPO ecosystems who wish to play Fortnite can still do so by acquiring it directly from Epic Games. However, you’ll need to first download the company’s official app via its website first, which you have to sideload on your phone. On that note, this is also the best way for users who are on Samsung or OPPO phones that are not officially supported by the either digital stores.
