Pakistan top ICC World Test Championship standings; India’s perfect record broken | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Pakistan have risen to the top of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings after Team India was held to a draw in the second Test against the West Indies in Trinidad.

The final day of the second Test in Trinidad was washed out, leaving India with a share of the spoils in the final match of their two-match series against the West Indies. The stalemate in Trinidad caused India to relinquish their previously impeccable 100 per cent win-loss record in the new WTC cycle.
Meanwhile, Pakistan achieved a four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Galle, becoming the only team in the new cycle without a loss. Led by captain Babar Azam, Pakistan were looking to keep their perfect record intact as they bowled out Sri Lanka for a mere 166 runs on the first day of the second Test in Colombo.

In response, Pakistan raced to an impressive 145/2 in just 28.3 overs until stumps were drawn on Day 1. The team now sets its sights on building a substantial lead over Sri Lanka on Day 2 of the match.
With India’s draw against the West Indies, their win-loss percentage dropped from a perfect 100 per cent to 66.67, causing them to slip to the second position in the latest updated WTC standings.
The previous WTC champions, Australia, currently hold the third position, with England following in fourth place and the West Indies in the fifth position.
