Peat & Diesel have been left stranded on Shetland ahead of their headline show at Belladrum Festival.

The Stornoway folk-rock trio have reported they are stuck on the island after their sell-out show at Lerwick’s Tall Ships Festival on Friday after their flight was cancelled due to fog.

The Logainair flight was diverted to Bergen Norway but is scheduled to come back at 2.40pm.

The band are hopeful they will make the festival on time.

Uilly MacLeod told STV News: “The fog happens in Shetland all the time. It’s a regular occurrence.

“We’re running pretty tight as we have lots to do on the way down. We need to load our gear into the van. But we’re very hopeful we will make it on stage.

“We won’t be having a sound check and we’re going to try and skip accreditation – we’ve been in touch with organisers and they know what’s happening.

“We won’t be at the site before 7pm and that is if traffic is good, there’s been really bad traffic down at Belladrum this year. Hopefully the roads are clear for us.”

Peat & Diesel are scheduled to perform at 8pm at the popular music event in Kiltarlity, near Inverness.

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, at the Belladrum Estate, kicked off on Thursday and will run until Saturday.
