Zion Williamson currently remains the face of the Pelicans, but it’s pretty evident the front office in New Orleans is willing to make notable changes this offseason.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Pelicans are parting ways with assistant coach Teresa Weatherspoon.
Weatherspoon has been on the Pelicans’ coaching staff since 2020. For what it’s worth, she has a strong rapport with Williamson.
Sources: Pelicans are parting ways with assistant coach, Basketball Hall of Famer Teresa Weatherspoon. Weatherspoon has been on staff since 2020, developing a strong rapport with players like Zion Williamson, and turned down other opportunities in hopes of rising in New Orleans.

Shortly before this report from Charania was made public, Saints reporter Nick Underhill announced that Williamson is meeting with Pelicans vice president of basketball operations David Griffin.
Zion Williamson and David Griffin are meeting this afternoon at the Saints headquarters, I'm told.

Perhaps the Pelicans scheduled this meeting with Williamson so they can inform him that Weatherspoon is no longer part of the staff.
Even if that’s the case, all the rumors surrounding Williamson’s future in New Orleans won’t go away anytime soon.
At the end of the day though, the Pelicans hold all the cards since Williamson is under contract through the 2027-28 season.
