The Pokemon franchise is no stranger to leaks, as was seen most recently with the loads of info revealed about Scarlet & Violet prior to the game’s launch (like the Paradox Pokemon), and it’s clear the leakers aren’t slowing down any time soon, as they’re already talking about the series’ next mainline entry and how it’s related to Pokemon Black and White (the Gen 5 games).
Twitter user CentroLeaks, who’s been reporting on Pokemon leaks for years, recently began posting tidbits of info about what’s alleged to be the “next main series game.” The information comes from a certain Japanese leaker, who revealed a lot of accurate details about 2022’s Scarlet & Violet before the games released.
The unfortunate circumstance is that this leaker is known for being cheekily cryptic with their leaks, often posting vague hints and riddles instead of actually explaining the information they know.
A few weeks ago, they posted a poll asking players what they would like to see for the future of the Pokemon franchise. The options included a Black & White sequel, a Black & White Legends game (akin to Legends: Arceus), a Let’s Go-style Black & White remake, and the last option titled “Paradox Unova.”
This final option is seemingly referencing the Paradox Pokemon present in Scarlet & Violet, Pokemon that are essentially futuristic/ancestral versions of current Pokemon. A couple of weeks afterward, CentroLeaks made another post simply stating the following, “Paradox Sequel. (thanks, K);” ‘K’ referring to the leaker. So, it would seem that, among the four options, “Paradox Unova” seems to be what the leaker was hinting at, but it’s unclear what that even means.
Theories have been flying though, fueled specifically by a previous leak, in which it’s claimed that a character from the upcoming Scarlet & Violet DLC will play a big role in the next mainline Pokemon game.
This has led many to speculate that this Black & White project will be some sort of time-travel spinoff/sequel, akin to Legends: Arceus, and not exactly a remake. This is, of course, nothing more than pure conjecture. The Pokemon Company has continued the habit of remaking its past-gen titles consecutively, most recently with 2020’s Gen 4 remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
