Changing EU Environmental Legislation And Its Impact On Packaging Producers

Anna presented the sustainability challenges and opportunities for packaging producers coming from the latest changes in the EU environmental legislation. She will elaborate on the ongoing review of the Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulations setting unprecedented requirements for all packaging and detail the impact on paper packaging. Today, paper & board has many sustainability credentials like renewability and recyclability and packaging aims to meet the business needs of the customers while supporting the EU ambitions. Will this be enough to be considered sustainable in future?

Anna Papagrigoraki is the Sustainability Director at Cepi, the European Confederation of Paper Industries, since 2019.

During the past 10 years Anna has focused on sustainability and environmental policy topics ranging from industrial emissions and environmental footprinting to packaging and food contact materials.

Anna has a Masters in Civil Engineering (2009) and an MSc in Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (2010) from the University of Southampton.
