Continuing its celebration of its 75th anniversary of the launch of the Porsche 356, the automaker’s first sports car, and following the January reveal of the Vision 357 concept, Porsche revealed its Vision 357 Speedster concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Noting that the 356 is branded as a convertible and coupe, VP Style Porsche Michael Mauer said, “the same logic applies to the concept car: there can only be two.”

While the Vision 357 is an ICE model based on the GT4 RS, the Vision 357 Speedster concept is an electric vehicle based on the 718 GT4 e-Performance and Mission R, further connecting the history of the 356 to the future of the automotive world. Using the chassis of the 718 GT4 RS Clubsport — the track-ready version — it will boast up to 1,073 horsepower from its two electric motors in qualifying mode and have a top speed of 300 km/h.

To further immortalize the 356, the Speedster is filled with unique details and styling that pay homage to the original model, while adding some modern touches. It has some specific design cues such as the shortened windshield, as well as a cloth tonneau cover on the right side of the cockpit, that Mauer says were used on the sports cars in the “early days.”

The hidden headlights and taillights are integrated into the vehicle’s body shape and make for an extra special touch. Its Marble Grey and Grivelo Grey Metallic two-tone body paint goes well with the Miami Blue accents. The Speedster also features large 75 logos (much like the Vision 357), as well as “1948” and “2023” markings, and 20-inch magnesium wheels. Zoom into those back wheels and you’ll notice a little comic-styled unicorn specifically made for the concept by Porsche designers. Instead of side mirrors, the Speedster has little wings — don’t worry, the mirrors are replaced with a camera

Porsche says the Vision 357 Speedster concept is the highlight of its Goodwood appearance, but the automaker is also bringing 15 new and classic models to West Sussex, England, including the 718 Spyder RS and Mission X, as well as a special 911 Carrera S (991) — the one-millionth 911 manufactured. Moreover, Porsche will also be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, showcasing the 718 W-RS Spyder, 935 Martini, and 911 RSR.
