This is not the first time footballers have been targeted for such grounds. Despite players spending a lot of money on security, thefts are on the rise. Attacks on footballers are increasing with every season with the influx of money in modern football luring wrongdoers in targeting them.
Some of the best players are among those who have been assaulted, demonstrating how vulnerable they may be in their daily lives. Here we have looked at such five incidents:
1. Victor Lindelof
The Manchester United defender’s family faced an attack at home in Manchester when he was away playing Brighton. Some robbers broke into the home while his wife, Maja Lindelof, and his two kids were present there. None of them got harmed as Maja locked everyone in a home however the intruders managed to rob the residence.
2. Dele Alli
In a shocking incident in 2020, former Tottenham Hotspur and current Everton attacker Dele Alli faced a massive attack on his house when robbers looted him at knifepoint.
Two men broke into his house taking him hostage before leaving the arena and punching Alli in the face. Alli did not get major injuries but he was visibly taken aback after the incident.
