  • The Goathland Hotel in Whitby was the Aidensfield Arms in the television show

A pub from the classic TV show Heartbeat has gone up for sale for £175,000.

It offers 6,157 square feet, much more space than a property in London at the same price, where buyers pay out £525,629 on average.

The Goathland Hotel in Whitby was featured as the Aidensfield Arms in the television series.

The show was set in the idyllic fictional village of Aidensfield on the North Yorkshire Moors in the 1960s and many of the storylines centred around the pub.

The bubbly barmaid Gina Ward was played by Tricia Penrose from 1993 until the series ended in 2010.

The property is located on the main road running through the village between the shops and the steam railway.

The Goathland Hotel notes on its website that filming took place inside the bar for the first four years of the show.

The crew then built an exact replica set of the bar interior and all major locations in a studio, due to the programme’s success and because it was more convenient for filming, but the hotel was still used for all exterior shots.
