Rachel Bilson has once again opened up the conversation about intimacy and female pleasure on her podcast Broad Ideas, as she and guest Whitney Cummings shared their experiences of achieving orgasm through penetrative sex in a new episode of the show.
Former The OC star Rachel, 41, revealed that she didn’t have an orgasm through sex until she was 38, while Whitney added that she had a similar experience.
The comedian broached the subject by saying: “I’m not on birth control, my sex drive… by the way, I’m going to say this wild thing. To say: I have not had an orgasm from sex until I went off birth control. Never had it in my life until I turned 40… But I could do it with my hands.”
Rachel then replied: “I was the same as you. It didn’t happen for me until I was about 38. Isn’t that crazy?”
The pair then discussed different theories about whether hormonal contraception affects a woman’s ability to orgasm – as well as having children and male anatomy. They also got candid about period sex and their sexual red flags from potential partners.
Rachel Bilson recently confirmed that she dated Bill Hader back in 2019 for around a year, during which they attended the Golden Globes together. She has revealed that their breakup came during the pandemic, and that it “hurt like a motherf***er” due to the added stress of isolation and solo parenting during the lockdown – but that ultimately she learned a lot from the experience. She is now thought to be dating artist Zac LaRoc.
Rachel is often open about her past relationships, and has even alluded that the actors she has dated in the past have been “self-involved”.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she said: “This is a generalisation… I think I’ve dated quite a few actors, and I do think that some of them, not all, have very self-involved tenancies.
“I always tell myself, ‘Never again,’ and then, of course, you’re in another project [with] another person. Any workplace you’re in, you’re surrounded by the people. You’re around them every day and you’ll meet different personalities and sometimes you really have chemistry with someone.”
She did clarify of her ex-partner Hayden Christiansen: “I will say with respect for my daughter’s father, he is not like that.”
