Actress Rakul Preet Singh has been reportedly summoned by the ED (Enforcement Directorate) in an alleged money laundering matter connected to Tollywood drug case. The agency has been investigating the drug trafficking and consumption case since the past four years and several Telugu actors have been probed during the investigation. Rakul was earlier questioned by ED on September 3, 2021. Singh was questioned in the same case along with her colleague from the Telugu film industry, Rana Daggubati and ten others.
As per reports, the Doctor G actress case is related to the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department’s 2017 seizure of drugs worth ₹ 30 lakh. The customs officers detained musician Calvin Mascarenhas and two others as they seized the drugs from them. They allegedly admitted of supplying drugs to movie stars, software engineers, and even students of corporate schools.
The ED has issued notice to the actress to appear in front of them on December 19 in Hyderabad. Rakul will be questioned in relation to the money laundering case.
Rakul is yet to comment on the matter.
For the unversed, in this high-end drugs racket case, the agency had already interrogated Tollywood director Puri Jagannadh and actor and producer Charmee Kaur.
