Razer BlackWidow V4 75% Taps Into Enthusiast Territory

0

Razer kickstarted its fourth generation of BlackWidow keyboards back in February with the BlackWidow V4 Pro. This was then followed up with two additional variants last month. There’s another one now, called the Razer BlackWidow 4 75%, which looks to tap into the keyboard enthusiast market more than just the PC gamer crowd.

As the name suggests, this keyboard is smaller than its siblings, with the number pad being cut off. The Razer BlackWidow V4 75% is also the only one in the line to come with the brand’s orange keys by default, which is usually the counterpart of what other makers would colour as brown. It is also the first keyboard by the gaming peripheral maker to feature hot-swappable switches. The company says that it’s compatible with other three- or five-pin switches, allowing you to use your own ones if you have them.

Beyond that, you get other features with the Razer BlackWidow V4 75% that you’s expect from the custom keyboard market rather than gaming keyboards. The list includes factory-lubrricated stabilisers, a board that allows for screw-in stabilisers, as well as two layers of foam underneath. If you choose to, the company says that you can disassemble it and make your own mods. The keycaps themselves are still ABS plastic, as is the keyboard’s outer case.

All that aside, the Razer BlackWidow V4 75% still comes with all the other gamer fluff like Chroma RGB lighting, up to 8kHz polling rate, N-key rollover and anti-ghosting. Slightly less gaming related are the two media switches and a roller on the top right corner, as well as a magnetically attached wrist rest.

Overall, the Razer BlackWidow V4 75% is a weird one, especially for a brand that’s known for gaming peripherals. Either way, if you have the funds to dabble in the pricey hobby that is custom keyboards, you can use this as a pre-built base for RM939, at least for the default black colourway. If you don’t mind an additional premium on top, you can get it in white for RM999 instead.
