Razer Teams Up With BAPE As Streetwear Infiltrates The Gaming Community

0

Razer is globally known throughout the gaming community as the preferred lifestyle brand, crafting merchandise and hardware that gamers have gravitated toward since its launch in 2005. BAPE has pioneered the streetwear appetite many street culture connoisseurs share for popular subculture since 1993. In their second run, launching on July 22, 2022, the previous collaboration in December 2020 – at the height of the pandemic – Razer and BAPE are collaborating again with more merchandise to offer fans of gaming and streetwear.

The first collaboration between the two notable brands sold out in seconds and now have double the offerings from the capsule collection. A Bathing Ape brings the signature camouflage and shark head to the Razer gamer desk, and the familiar three-headed snake logo, for a glowing collaboration. Footwear, clothing, computer hardware, and software pieces are available for fans to purchase and adorn their home gaming setups while looking fresh for their live streams.

Addie Tan, the Associate Director of Business Development at Razer, recalls, “Riding on the success of our first partnership, we knew we had a high benchmark to meet, so we prioritized going above and beyond for our community with this new collection. This time we are really giving our fans more – more designs, more colorways, and more innovation.”

The capsule provides classic BAPE fashion with Razer-influenced neon accents and the fusion of the BAPE camo and the Razer three-headed snake logo into the design motif. The BAPE STA™ sneakers are designed with BAPE’s shark-head design and have soles that glow in the dark. The collection also includes “A Gaming Ape” tees in black and white that feature the “Gaming Ape” wearing Razer’s traditional headsets from Kraken and their Kraken Kitty design [in white].

A new BAPE Shark full-zip hoodie features BAPE’s WGM (World Gone Mad) motif. The Quartz version has plush kitten ears on the hood as an ode to the Razer’s Kraken Kitty headsets. Both hoodies have the “A Gaming Ape” embroidery patch, a BAPE design staple. For pairing with the tops, the Razer x BAPE collaboration has basketball shorts with shark graphic print, while the Quartz version has the “A Gaming Ape” embroidery patch. A snapback hat bearing the “A Gaming Ape” on the front and a collaborative camo print under the brim is also included.

Gamers can kit out computer setups with Razer x BAPE-designed items like the Razer Iskur X gets a BAPE gaming chair. The chair comes in black and Quartz, an ergonomic design created with the gamers’ wellness in mind, unique contours, and angled seat edges with high-density foam cushions. There is also a Razer BlackWidow V3 keyboard with azer™ Green mechanical switches, transparent switch housing, UV-coated ABS keycaps, with gaming-optimized switches.

In the classic BAPE production line model, a limited 1,337 units per style are available on Razer.com, RazerStore London, BAPE® online, and in stores worldwide. “Gaming has become a global cultural phenomenon, and many global artists and celebrities are embracing it. We expect this trend to continue and to have a major impact on the fashion industry moving forward,” says Akihiro Fukui, General Manager of Brand Business at A Bathing Ape.

Fukui concludes, “Through our collaboration with Razer, the leading lifestyle brand for gamers, a strong synergy is forged that combines and capitalizes on the strengths of both companies. With A Gaming Ape, we believe that we have created a legacy to stay.”
