Honesty was the best policy for an agent who has just sold Perth’s cheapest home of the year, with an hilarious advert.
O’Neil Real Estate agent Mark Grogan sold the duplex in Camillo for $140,000, with his ad conceding a home open was not necessary, given that without a front door, it was already a “very open home”.
The three-bedroom, one-bathroom duplex on Ainsley Court has clearly seen better days.
“This is pretty rough folks . . . pretty is generous because it’s ugly. Rough is being polite,” states the advert.
“Stuffed” makes it sound like a cuddly teddy bear . . . which it is not.
“Screwed” makes it sound like things are still attached . . . which they are not.”
The ad explains the duplex requires a “new kitchen, bathroom, doors, windows, flooring and possibly other bits and pieces too”.
“We make no warranties as to anything working,” it says.
“Banks generally want kitchens and stuff before they’ll lend you any money so we’re looking for a cash offer.”
But he points out its handy location near schools and parks, and that a nice duplex in the vicinity recently sold for $360,000.
Perth’s second cheapest property this year was a one-bedroom East Perth unit which went for $158,500 in March.
