The Rockets-Pelicans game tips at 7 p.m. CST and can be viewed or streamed via AT&T SportsNet Southwest and NBA League Pass.
The Rockets were beaten by 13 points in Sunday’s game at Houston, thanks largely to a playmaking masterclass by Brandon Ingram (33 points, 12 assists). With the win, the Pelicans moved into the No. 10 spot in the Western Conference, which currently gives them the final spot in the West play-in tournament for the 2022 NBA playoffs.
Between the play-in tournament stakes and three straight wins overall, New Orleans enters Tuesday with plenty of momentum and incentive.
Thus, Houston knows it will need a much stronger effort on Tuesday — particularly on defense and with 3-point shooting — to turn the tables in a quick rematch on the road. Unfortunately, they appear likely to still be without “3&D” wing specialist Eric Gordon due to ongoing plantar fasciitis in his left heel, according to head coach Stephen Silas.
That could lead to more minutes for rookie guard Josh Christopher, who has had a strong run of play in recent games.
Rockets at Pelicans notable injuries
Houston’s injury report lists rookie forward Usman Garuba as out with a left wrist injury, which could keep him out for up to eight weeks. Two-way players Daishen Nix and Trevelin Queen remain in the G League, largely due to the majority of the Rockets’ roster being healthy. Eric Gordon (left heel soreness) is officially listed as questionable, though Silas said at Monday’s practice that he considered Gordon to be doubtful.
For the Pelicans, Willy Hernangomez is out due to health and safety protocols, while Garrett Temple is questionable due to the protocol. Confirmed injury absences include rising star Zion Williamson, who remains out with the same right foot fracture that has prevented him from playing all season; Kira Lewis Jr., who is out with a right knee sprain; and Didi Louzada, who underwent a left knee meniscectomy.

Advice and prediction
It’s hard to envision Tuesday’s road game being significantly different from Sunday at home, assuming the Rockets are still without Eric Gordon. New Orleans has a clear advantage in both momentum and incentive.
Prediction: Pelicans 117, Rockets 108
