Sale of ICC cricket world cup tickets may start from August 10: Reports

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly reached out to all the associations hosting the 2023 ICC cricket World Cup games to provide input on ticket pricing. The BCCI aims to initiate online ticket sales by August 10, coinciding with the expected changes in the event’s schedule.

Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, previously assured that the scheduling issue would be resolved within the next three to four days. This came after three full member nations wrote to the International Cricket Council (ICC), urging modifications to the existing schedule.

According to Shah, online ticket holders will also have to obtain physical copies and show them at the stadium’s entry gates. Although tickets are available for purchase online, electronic tickets will not be accepted during the prestigious 50-over tournament, which is being hosted solely in India for the first time.

“Three members have approached the ICC seeking a schedule change. Our focus is primarily on adjusting dates and timings, while keeping the venues unchanged. We are actively working to minimize the gap between games from six days to 4-5 days. A clearer picture will emerge within the mentioned timeframe, and any changes will be made in consultation with the ICC,” Shah said.

When questioned about the possibility of rescheduling the marquee clash between India and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Shah said, “As previously stated, a few member boards have submitted their requests to the ICC, and a decision will be reached shortly.”

Addressing concerns about the high-profile match’s security, Shah reassured the public that there are no prevailing security issues. The 2023 World Cup is set to feature 48 games taking place in 10 cities from October 5 to November 19. The opening game in Ahmedabad will see England and New Zealand facing off in an exciting encounter.
