The 72-hour public voting period for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award comes to an end at midnight on Wednesday.
Urging Scots to “have your SAY”, the award’s voting campaign was launched at 12am on Monday.
Music fans were asked to vote for their favourite album from the recently announced longlist, to secure its place in 2022’s ten-strong shortlist – announced on Thursday, October 6.
The album with the most votes will secure a minimum prize of £1,000 and remain in the running for the £20,000 grand prize and coveted title of Scottish Album of the Year.
Nine other shortlisted albums will then be selected by this year’s SAY Award judging panel, who will then consider the shortlist and determine 2022’s SAY Award winner.
In 2021, two supporting awards were introduced to accompany the main album of the year prize – the Modern Scottish Classic Award (recognising an outstanding album from Scotland’s past) and the Sound of Young Scotland Award (facilitating the creation of a debut album from a young and emerging Scottish artist).
Previous SAY Award judges have included broadcaster Edith Bowman, poet Jackie Kay, author Ian Rankin, Turner prize-winning artists Douglas Gordon and Susan Philipsz and filmmaker Lynne Ramsey.
Regarded as one of the most democratic awards in the industry by Creative Scotland, the SAY Award online public vote is free to enter and is restricted to one vote per person.
