SDCC ’23: Whitley & Huang team for queer fantasy series THE COLD EVER AFTER at Titan

Titan Comics has announced a new graphic novel combining queer themes with elements of Arthurian legend and crime noir. The Cold Ever After comes from the creative team of writer Jeremy Whitley and artist Megan Huang. It follows a former knight on a quest to find the daughter of her former lover, who also happens to be the Queen.

Here’s how Titan describes The Cold Ever After:

She lost everything when she fell in love with her Queen. Now she has a week to find a missing princess, or she’ll lose it all again… along with her head.

Ten years after her disgrace and exile, Sir Noelani Mahi’ai – former Royal Champion of the kingdom of Patria Lupi and Queen’s protector – has been hiding under a rock at the bottom of a bottle and hasn’t lifted a sword in all that time. Until one day, the Queen summons Noelani to find her daughter who has mysteriously disappeared the night before her wedding.

Given one week to recover the princess, Noelani is forced to confront a baffling mystery, a terrifying adversary and her own past to save the kingdom. But not everything is as it seems in Patria Lupi, and in seven days she may not have a life to get back on track.

Jeremy Whitley is the Glyph Award-winning creator of Princeless, so he’s no stranger to stories involving knights, royalty, and fantastical far-off kingdoms. It’s Whitley’s first pairing with Megan Huang, whose previous interior comics work includes Rangers of the Divide for Dark Horse and three issues of Zombie Tramp for Action Lab.

Check out a preview of the new graphic novel below. The Cold Ever After is due out in stores on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024.
