Fact Check-

The video itself mentions that an IUML Human Rights Rally took place on October 26 in Calicut, Kerala. We conducted a relevant keyword search and discovered information about the rally. On October 26, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) held a major human rights rally in Calicut to express solidarity with the people of Palestine. Congress Working Committee member and party MP Shashi Tharoor was the chief guest at the rally in Calicut.

According to the Hindu report, “ massive human rights rally taken out by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) at Kozhikode expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine has turned into a subject of controversy over a word used by the rally’s chief guest Shashi Tharoor, MP. During his inaugural speech, Mr. Tharoor, without naming Hamas, described the attack on Israel as a terrorist attack. The platforms of the social media as well as the visual media turned hot with angry responses against Mr. Tharoor.

Making his stand clear, Mr. Tharoor said that he “was and is with the people of Palestine and it is useless to rake up an issue by taking one word or point from my speech.”

For more clarification we reached out to Indian Union Muslim League, and then the High Power Committee officials clarified us that “it was a Palestine Solidarity Human Rights rally, we invited Mr. Tharoor as our chief guest at the rally because we wanted a public opinion to be formed at the international level for those suffering in Palestine. And we succeeded in it. Mr. Tharoor has made his stand clear saying that he is with the people of Palestine. Making a controversy out of this rally is cruel to the people of Palestine.

Based on this evidence, we can say that it was not a massive rally in Kerala in support of Hamas terrorists by the Muslim League and Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor; it was a pro-Palestine human rights rally organised by IUML.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video be Misleading. Video shows a Palestine Solidarity Human Rights rally held in Kerala organised by IUML. Shashi Tharoor attended this pro-Palestine rally but did not extend his support to Hamas.
