There appears to be some confusion regarding which SpongeBob SquarePants actor (if any) is dating Ariana Grande. To be clear, Ariana is said to be dating Ethan Slater, who lived in a pineapple under the sea during The SpongeBob Musical: Live on Stage:
Ariana is not dating Tom Kenny, who voices SpongeBob on the television show.
Tom’s wife Jill Talley reportedly clarified any confusion in the comments of this post from The Cut:
“Hi everyone, I’m married to Tom Kenny (who voices SpongeBob on the TV show),” she wrote. “He is not dating Ariana Grande. I don’t know if Ethan Slater (who played SpongeBob in the musical) is or isn’t dating Ariana Grande. However, they’re both adorable and I totally ship it. Just wanted to set the record straight. P.S. as for me and Tom Kenny — we are celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary today.”
Cool cool cool, glad that’s been cleared up.
TMZ was first to report the news that Ethan and Ariana are dating, noting that they got together after Ariana had separated from her husband Dalton Gomez, and after Ethan had separated from his wife Lilly Jay. However, a source recently told Page Six that Lilly was “completely blindsided,” adding “It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck.” The source also said they think that Ariana and Ethan’s vibes are the reason he and Lilly “suddenly break up now when nothing appeared wrong between them.”
So, yeah…messy times!
