The NBA community lost one heck of a person on Tuesday morning.

Willis Reed, who spent his entire 10-year career with the New York Knicks, passed away at the age of 80.

Reed is one of the greatest players in NBA history. He helped the Knicks to two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973 and was also the MVP of the NBA Finals for those series.

He also was the league MVP in 1970 and was a seven-time All-Star throughout his career.

The sports world is mourning the loss of this true all-time great.

“Before Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, it was unknown if Willis Reed would play due to a serious thigh injury. He heroically came out from the tunnel in the middle of warmups, and helped the Knicks win their first NBA Championship. Rest in Peace Legend,” another tweet read.

Our thoughts are with Reed’s family and friends. May he rest in peace.
