On Tuesday night Golden State Warriors Steph Curry was being celebrated with an award before Game 4 between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal took that as an opportunity to make things extremely uncomfortable. Shaq appeared to allude to a lawsuit both were mentioned in pertaining to the cryptocurrency platform FTX.
“You’re my favorite player,” Shaq told Curry after he received Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion Award. “I just want to say congratulations my brother and thanks for getting me in trouble. Don’t say nothing. Be quiet.”
Fans couldn’t believe Shaq made such a clear reference to the ongoing lawsuit.
“Laughing about your ponzi scheme while accepting a social justice award is wild,” one reporter said.
“Forgot about the crypto scam. How did he win that award,” questioned another.
“Kinda gross that they just laugh and joke about being a part of scamming people out of a lot of money,” added a third.
Shaq had reportedly not been served in the lawsuit until Game 4 on Tuesday night, which makes his comments that much more incendiary.
Perhaps he and Steph shouldn’t joke about such things.
