Due to the recent bold promo sessions on SmackDown, many thought that Knight was gearing up for a title win. But not only he failed to win the United States Championship Invitational but also got pinned in a Fatal-4-Way.
Eventually, the United States Championship won’t be defended at SummerSlam 2023 in the first place, as per a recent report by the Wrestling Observer. But Knight is likely to find a spot on the card.
BWE tweeted out behind their private Twitter account that WWE is arranging something for LA Knight at SummerSlam, “LAK will have a certain seg/angle during SS. Could switch to a match. But will confirm on Friday.”
We’ll have to wait till this Friday’s SmackDown to find out WWE’s plans regarding the crowd’s hot favorite superstar, right now. Meanwhile, he’ll have to wait for the right moment to finally receive the deserved push in his career.
After the loss in the US Title Invitational, fans speculated on the internet about WWE burying Knight. But The Observer assured them with the following statement, “They’re not burying LA Knight, they’re just taking their time.”
It was also noted by the source that “they are very much in control of this one,” or else he wouldn’t get these special promo times, each week. WWE does see Knight as a star and they’re intending to have a slow build for him.
Speaking of future stars, another such name on SmackDown is Grayson Waller. Since coming to the main roster, he’s impressed everyone with his mic skills and also with in-ring skills in his first match against WWE Hall of Famer Edge.
Missing a special event like SummerSlam won’t be a great idea for the top brass heel. On that note, WRKD Wrestling reports that WWE is still pitching ideas for him and that he’s not totally out of the conversation.
“While nothing is set in stone, ideas have been pitched to have a SummerSlam weekend segment between Grayson Waller and a WWE legend. Reactions backstage have been very favorable for the young star’s segments with John Cena and Edge.”
Previous speculations suggested that Stone Cold Steve Austin was supposed to return to be a guest on the Grayson Waller Show at SummerSlam to give him a ‘big rub.’ Time will tell whether that segment becomes a reality at the PLE.
