TAG Heuer And Porsche Unveil Bold Orange Carrera Chronograph

With a shared history in and love of motor sports racing, TAG Heuer and Porsche joined forces in 2021 to create new timepieces that celebrate a name they both share: Carrera. Now, they release a bold orange-accented Carrera Chronograph Orange Racing watch that is designed to emulate heat sparks on the race track and offer a strong a nod to the racing world.

Since the relationship between these two brands started two years ago, they have created five watches that showcase both brands’ passions for racing. This is the sixth timepiece to make its debut. This is also particularly important because this year TAG Heuer celebrates 60 years of the Carrera watch.

In 1963, Jack Heuer named his new chronograph watch after the Carrera Panamericana legendary race — one of the most dangerous in the world. Similarly, when Porsche won its first class victory at the Carrera Panamericana race in 1954, it named its most powerful car, the 911, in its honor — Carrera.

The new watch jointly released by both brands just a few weeks ago in Singapore at the LVMH Watch Week, boasts a bold orange and black color scheme. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange Racing watch measures 44mm in diameter and is crafted in black Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) stainless steel. Also important on a racing-inspired watch, the timepiece features a black ceramic tachymeter bezel for measuring speed or distance. The cool thing about the bezel, with its white five-minute interval markings, is the bright orange Porsche name on the fixed bezel between the 60 and the 400 kilometers per hour spot.

It houses the caliber Heuer 02 high performance movement made entirely in house. Exactly 168 components comprise the caliber — aptly including a column wheel and vertical clutch. The custom designed oscillating weight that pays tribute to the Porsche steering wheel is visible via a transparent sapphire case back.

Thanks to the anti-reflective treatment on the domed sapphire crystal, there is no glare on the dial when the sun is beating down on the racetrack. The watch is finished with a textured black calfskin strap with orange lining and stitching. The strap sitching recalls the car’s upholstery stitching. The chronograph watch measures hours, minutes, and seconds. The watch offers 80 hours of power reserve and is water resistant to 100 meters. It retails for $7,050.

According to TAG Heuer CEO, Frederic Arnault, the relationship between the two brands is one they will continue to build on in the coming years — seeking to create high-performance sports watches that re representative of both brands’ values. Together, with their expertise and creativity, our teams have created a bold and powerful timepiece encased in a sporty yet elegant design.”
