TCU inflicts brutal bad beat on Gonzaga bettors with insane last-second shot

The NCAA Tournament was at the center of the sports landscape all weekend, and it left us with a distinct memory to cap off the four-day long college basketball binge with an insane cover (or non cover depending on who you bet).

TCU’s Damion Baugh hit a three pointer with less than a second left down by seven to cover the +4.5 point spread against No. 3 seed Gonzaga in the night cap of the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Before I describe the insanity of this cover, just look for yourself.

Let’s add a little bit more context around this. The No. 6 seed Horned Frogs led by five at halftime and the game was back and forth for much of the second half, but Drew Timme and the Bulldogs pulled away as the team had the lead for much of the final 10 minutes.

That brings us to the final 15 seconds that featured an inbounds steal for TCU’s star player Mike Miles Jr., who was fouled and made both free throws to cut it to five. TCU pressed again but Gonzaga’s Hunter Sallis broke free and flushed a dunk to go back up by seven.

With four seconds left Rondel Walker hit a corner three to make it four once again, but TCU fouled Gonzaga again, putting the Bulldogs up by six once again with 0.7 seconds left, setting up one of the most epic backdoor covers all time.

Gonzaga advanced, but TCU spread bettors got the cash. The Bulldogs move onto face No. 2 seed UCLA in the Sweet 16 on Thursday.

It was a long weekend of watching college hoops that featured plenty of sports betting highs and lows, so it was only fitting that it ended after midnight on the east coast in dramatic fashion.
