Tech layoffs worsen in Bay Area: Logitech, Salesforce chop jobs

NEWARK — The tech sector has unleashed a fresh round of layoffs that will eliminate well over 100 more jobs in the Bay Area after Logitech and Salesforce filed new disclosures for staffing reductions in the region.

All told, an estimated 138 jobs are being eliminated in the Bay Area, according to information in the most recent official filings with the state Employment Development Department.

Here are the details of the most recent job cuts that tech companies have revealed for workers in the Bay Area, posts on the EDD’s official site show:

  • Salesforce, a cloud-based software behemoth, is cutting 86 jobs in San Francisco
  • Logitech, a manufacturer of computer peripherals such as mice and keyboards, is cutting 52 jobs in Newark.

Since mid-2022, tech companies have revealed plans to eliminate more than 20,000 jobs in the Bay Area. Some of the job cuts have occurred, while others are scheduled to transpire.
