Teddy Sheringham makes cheeky Mo Salah transfer request – ‘Come down to Tottenham’

Teddy Sheringham has made a cheeky request to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy about Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has starred for the Reds since moving to Anfield from Roma in 2017, winning the Champions League and Premier League in successive seasons.

His form has once again been exceptional this season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions to help fire Jurgen Klopp’s side on their title challenge.

But a problem is quickly approaching for Liverpool, with Salah having entered the final 18 months of his contract.

Salah is understood to want to be made the highest-paid player at Anfield, though agreeing to his terms would break Liverpool’s wage structure.

Currently, that is something the Reds are not keen to accept, with Salah insisting that negotiations lie in the club’s hands.

Klopp has attempted to assure fans that the talks over a new deal are going well, but there is increasing concern that Salah could depart.

Spurs would not be able to offer the immediate ability to challenge for trophies, though they do possess one of the best managers in the world in Antonio Conte.

With Liverpool stumbling over tying down their superstar to a long-term contract, Sheringham has blasted the Reds for the time it is taking.

And he has suggested that if Salah does leave Anfield, he could end up moving to their top-flight rivals Tottenham.

“Salah is the man. He keeps producing. I’m surprised it has taken them this long to come up with a package for him,” he told talkSPORT.

“He’s openly come out and said he wants to stay. You’d like to think Liverpool would want him to stay. Get it done or he can come down to Tottenham!”

If Tottenham were able to sign him, they would also bring one of their chief tormentors of recent seasons.

Salah has scored eight goals in 15 games against Spurs, helping his side to win nine of those encounters.

Liverpool will be desperate to keep hold of Salah and still have time in which to find an agreement, though clubs are circling.
