The podcast host has often taken shots at Canada’s prime minister, previously calling him a “creepy dictator” and “sketchy guy,” and even once described Canada as “communist” with him as the country’s leader.

On Wednesday’s episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Trudeau was mentioned again, as Rogan accused him of trying and failing to turn Canada into a “banana republic.”

“What disturbs me is the way he’s willing to discredit people that disagree with him like the Canadian truckers,” Rogan told frequent guest Concordia University Prof. Gad Saad.

“He’s saying that they’re often misogynistic and racist, like, what are you talking about, man?”

Rogan added: “The fact that they froze the bank accounts of people who donated money …”

Saad chimed in, “It’s insane.”

Rogan agreed: “Insane! That’s banana republic s***, that’s scary, that’s scary totalitarian s***.”

Saad recalled having a spokesperson for the trucker convoy on his own podcast, describing the events as “unbelievable.”

“It’s a test case for totalitarian government,” Rogan said. “They did not pass that test. They failed that test.”

In a May 2022 podcast, Rogan admitted to Saad that his opinion of Trudeau shifted following his response to the month-long protest by truckers that crippled downtown Ottawa.

At the time, he praised Canada’s universal health care, education system and low crime in comparison to the U.S., “but then when you have a creepy f***ing dictator for a prime minister, it freaked me out,” he said.

“But just the way he labelled those truckers as racist for no reason, the people that were protesting against mandates, he decided that they were misogynists and racists.” It rubbed Rogan the wrong way.

“I thought he was a handsome fella with a good vocabulary and seems like a nice guy,” Rogan added. “Before he really leaned into the woke stuff, I thought he was a kind, sensitive guy, and I thought that’s probably a good disposition to be a leader.”
