World-renowned venue The Brooklyn Mirage delivers some of the world’s hottest talent such as Kaskade, Zedd, Alesso, Charlotte de Witte, Dillon Francis, Tale of Us, Adam Beyer, Excision and Fisher. Indeed, the Brooklyn-based concert hub is not short of talent when it comes to lineups. The club once again stunned with its season-closing festival, The Cityfox Experience: Transcend.

Thirty-three artists graced the stages across two nights, Oct. 1 and 2. The star-studded lineup boasted the likes of Maceo Plex, Inellea, Ben Böhmer, Spencer Brown, Victor Calderone, Mikey Lion, Kevin Knapp, Julia Gover, Lily Ray and more. In true The Brooklyn Mirage fashion, the night featured insane visuals, intense lasers and techno and house pulsing through industrial speakers. The festival was held across four stages: The Brooklyn Mirage, The Great Hall, King’s Hall and The Village. The newly-installed visual wall also set the stage to bring a true festival experience, one that delivered the heat.

The Brooklyn Mirage’s season-closing act featured Afro House legend Black Coffee, which took place Friday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 16. The Cityfox Experience: Transcend comes ahead of The Cityfox Halloween Festival, set to take place Thursday, Oct. 27 through Monday, Oct. 31, featuring four wicked lineups for each night. The event will take place in Avant Garnder’s The Great Hall, the main room in the warehouse portion connected to The Brooklyn Mirage.

Here, five The Cityfox Experience: Transcend artists share their experience playing at the event.

Kevin Knapp: “It was an absolute joy being back at Cityfox and getting a chance to drop the hammer with my Desert Hearts brother, Lee Reynolds. There’s just something about playing in Brooklyn that’s so magical.”

Ben Böhmer: “[I] loved every second. Events at The Brooklyn Mirage are always among my favorites—the production there is crazy good.”

Julia Govor: “It’s not often I get a chance to open a big stage for a massive event, but whenever I do, I try to create ‘melting river’ vibes. During my set, I built energy using abstract techno through intelligent trance via percussive multi-genre, and [I] closed with an Aphex Twin-inspired era track from my JUJUKA label. The lighting, the sound system and the visuals made it even more powerful. It was a pleasure to experiment at an almost full venue in Brooklyn at 9:30 pm on a rainy evening. It was actually the same venue/warehouse that Richard David James (Aphex Twin) performed at in 2019.”

Lily Ray: “I’ve been an avid lover and supporter of Cityfox events since the first party they brought to New York City about 10 years ago, and it was a huge honor to join the stacked lineup of amazing deejays and producers at their Transcend party. It was a rainy Saturday on the heels of Hurricane Ian, and it was uncertain whether the rain would clear in time for the party to begin. This was a bit stressful as I was one of the opening deejays, and my stage, The Village, was one of the outdoor stages. But it was an unforgettable experience to watch the rain instantly begin to clear as soon as I started playing my opening tracks. My friends were able to take off the ponchos Cityfox provided them and enjoy a beautiful evening dancing outdoors as we wrapped up the summer party season. The Transcend event was just that from start to finish: transcendental—an immersive, multi-stage, indoor and outdoor experience with the best sound systems, visual projections, lighting and pyrotechnics the city has to offer. Transcend allowed us to lose track of time, meander through its seemingly endless corners and find new and old friends in surprising places. The music ranged from the hypnotic, melodic beats of Ben Böhmer to the industrial, big-room techno sounds of Maceo Plex and the creative, exciting live electronic performance by Georgia Angiuli, who even summoned a hand puppet as part of her exhilarating live show. It was an honor to be part of it, and I can’t thank Cityfox enough for its dedication to supporting both local and international artists and throwing by far the best parties in New York for so many years.”

Innellea: “The weather couldn’t stop us. I love playing at The Brooklyn Mirage—the production is one of the best on this planet and the crowd is highly energetic from the first sound until the last one. Thank you, New York.”
