Where is The Fleece Inn?

Ideally situated on Cirencester’s bustling Dyer Street, The Fleece is within a stone’s throw of the Market Place and the easy-on-the-eye St John the Baptist parish church.

The nearest train station is Kemble, a 15-minute drive away or, if you’d rather drive, there is some parking on-site and at Waterloo Car Park.

What’s The Fleece Inn like?

The characterful hotel is perfectly placed for walking in the Cotswolds.

Everything inside feels typical of its countryside setting from the roaring log fire to the leather Chesterfield-style arm chairs.

What is there to do at The Fleece Inn?

Cirencester’s winding streets are packed with vintage shops for antiques hunters, coffee shops and centuries of history to revel in.

What is there to eat and drink at The Fleece Inn?

The restaurant caters for all tastes, offering upmarket pub grub for dinner – highlights include a crab-and-prawn linguine – and a breakfast menu that boasts a buttery eggs benedict.

But if you prefer to venture out, the town is not short of options, from beers and burgers at the Porters Pub & Kitchen to pizza parlours or vino tinto and tapas at wine bar Sam & Jak.

What are the rooms like at The Fleece Inn?

Ours was sensational – we’d bagged the stunning Feature Room, the hotel’s finest.

Around the sprawling, absurdly comfy super-king bed, decor is quirky period maximalist – from the faux-leather sofa and lazy chairs to the eye-catching fittings, wallpaper and mirrors.

We particularly loved the faintly steampunk wrought-iron chandelier dangling from the ten-foot ceiling.

The ensuite bathroom, filled with smellies from The White Company, was stunning and more spacious than most London flats – how many hotel washrooms have an echo when you run the taps on the clawfoot bath?

The vintage-looking bedroom’s espresso machine, mini fridge and flatscreen telly are the only reminders that this is 2022, not 1922.

How much is The Fleece Inn?

The Feature Room is from £160 per night, but guarantees a stay to remember.

Standard and twin rooms are from £110 per night. Book at thefleececirencester.co.uk.

Is The Fleece Inn family-friendly?

There are twin rooms that would suit kids, but The Fleece is better suited to furry friends than it is children – there’s a charge of £15 per night to bring your dog.

Is there access for guests with disabilities?

The hotel states that “due to the historic nature” of the building, they are unable to provide rooms that are suitable for disabled guests.
