The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom – How To Use Mineru’s Construct

0

In the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Hyrule is once again turned upside down by the forces of evil. Once ravaged by Calamity Ganon, now Ganondorf and the Upheaval are Hyrule’s latest scourge. To combat the Upheaval, Link must gather the five Sages and take the fight to Ganondorf in the Depths underneath Hyrule Castle. Sidon, the Zora Sage of Water; Riju, the Gerudo Sage of Lightning; Yunobo, the Goron Sage of Fire; and Tulin, the Rito Sage of Wind. But wait, that’s only four Sages…

If you’ve recruited all four Sages and confronted Phantom Ganon in Hyrule Castle, you can return to Lookout Landing and speak with Purah to receive a quest to find the fifth Sage, the Sage of Spirit. This quest will take you to the Zonai Ruins in Faron, where you work with the Zonai Research Team Leader Tauro to dispel a thunderstorm covering a series of sky islands known as the Thunderhead Isles. Upon reaching the Thunderhead Isles’ center, you are introduced to Mineru; the Sage of Spirit and older sister of Rauru. She directs you to the Construct Factory in the Depths, where Link assembles a robotic body for her spirit to inhabit.

Controlling Mineru’s Construct

Mineru, like the other Sages, has a Sage Power that can be activated by approaching her Construct and pressing A. In this case, you can mount the Construct and control it directly. Mineru’s Construct is large, bulky, and a bit of an easy target; you can still be hit by enemy attacks, and you’ll still take damage, so be aware of your surroundings while controlling Mineru’s Construct.

While walking around, you’ll consume battery power, though it will recharge when standing still. You can press the L and R buttons to make the Construct punch, which knocks enemies down and sends them flying. She can also guard, and by extension parry. However, Mineru is much larger and slower than Link and thus is a much easier target, so be careful if you decide to control her in battle. Because of Mineru’s large size, you may not notice an enemy sneak up on you and get a hit in.

The Power Of Fusion

Mineru’s Construct has three slots with which to equip items via the Fuse ability. You can equip materials, weapons (only un-fused weapons are eligible for fusion), and Zonai Devices for a variety of uses. While Mineru’s Construct packs a punch by itself, it’s only by making use of Fuse that its true power is brought forth. Weapons and enemy drops can be equipped to boost the Construct’s damage, or you can equip a Cannon and use it as an explosive projectile attack.

Best Items To Fuse To Mineru’s Construct

There are some items that Mineru’s Construct can make use of that outshine others. Here are ten of the best items that can turn the Construct into a robotic one-Zonai army.

  1. Frost Emitter: Freeze is a great status condition to make use of if you know how to capitalize on it. Frozen enemies, on top of being unable to act, will take massive damage when hit. By equipping a Frost Emitter, you can easily freeze an enemy, smack it around, then re-freeze it and repeat the cycle until the enemy dies. This is a very potent way to take down even high-level foes like Silver Boss Bokoblins, as the damage bonus from attacking frozen enemies can quickly take chunks out of their health.
  2. Cannon: The Cannon is already one of the more fun offensive Zonai Devices, being able to launch explosives at unsuspecting foes. Now, you can take direct control of it and blow up enemies by yourself! The Cannon’s damage leaves a bit to be desired, but the powerful explosions are so satisfying to wield that it more than makes up for it. And, in a pinch, it makes for a great mining tool.
  3. Beam Emitter: The Beam Emitter is another good ranged option for the Construct, being able to hit more reliably across a longer range than the Cannon. Of course, the Beam Emitter deals damage in increments, so you’ll have to keep the beam focused on an enemy for a while if you want to deal a large amount of damage. Upgrading Mineru’s Construct at a Goddess Statue — by collecting Sage’s Wills — can bring up the Beam Emitter’s damage to useful levels; just don’t try to use it in close range combat.
  4. Wooden Boards / Korok Fronds: Like Springs, Wooden Boards and Korok Fronds will function similarly when used by Mineru, creating gusts of wind that knock enemies about.
  5. Spring: The Spring is an entertaining option for Mineru’s arms, massively extending the distance enemies are launched when hit by Mineru’s powerful punches. It doesn’t do much, but it’s usually good for a big laugh. You could also use it to knock Bokoblins into water — they can’t swim, after all.
  6. Rocket: While Mineru’s Construct can’t jump, you can attach a rocket to her back to let her scale cliffs. Similarly to fusing a Rocket to a shield, Mineru will take off when a Rocket is attached to her back, providing a fast and easy way to scale cliffs or walls. You don’t even have to worry about fall damage either — it’s a great way to get some height!
  7. Fan: Mineru is admittedly quite slow. However, attaching a Fan to her back can bring her up to a better speed. That said, it’s still better to travel by vehicle or Horse, but in a pinch Mineru can be a reliable mount — especially in an area with lava or large pools of Gloom.
  8. Gemstones: Want a Magic Rod but don’t want to give up a weapon slot? Just attach a Sapphire or Ruby to Mineru — any Gemstones attached to Mineru’s Construct will produce their corresponding elemental effects!
  9. Weapons: Mineru not packing enough of a punch for you? Just give her a weapon, and watch her damage go up! When combined with various elemental effects, Mineru can do a surprising amount of damage — though again, she’s somewhat slow and awkward compared to Link’s speed and precision.
  10. Wing / Balloon: Mineru can glide by attaching a Wing or Balloon to her back and holding Y as you walk off a ledge. That being said, Mineru’s Construct is still quite heavy and will descend fairly quickly — though the distance you gain from using the Wing or Balloon can be useful for traversing the Depths or a mountain.

Practice Using Mineru’s Construct

You should definitely practice using Mineru’s construct as you will be required to use it to progress past a certain boss in the game. You can make use of a Zonai dispenser to always have the devices you need on hand to fuse with Mineru’s Construct.
