The 2023 NBA All-Star Game is getting underway at Salt Lake City’s Vivint Arena and the fans in attendance are there to see all of the NBA’s best players. But there was one player fans didn’t seem so pleased to see.
During the pregame player introductions, Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving was the only player to be booed. Even though a number of polarizing players like LeBron James, Paul Georgia and Nikola Jokic were in attendance, none of them heard the boo birds.
But it’s not too hard to figure out why Kyrie is so disliked. His recent shenanigans with the Brooklyn Nets that got him traded to the Mavs have basically made him hated by everyone except the Mavs themselves.
Not that it seems to bother Kyrie himself though. He seems perfectly fine with where he’s at both in the NBA and outside of it.
Ironically, even though he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference, he can’t reunite with LeBron James on that side of the court as he was voted to the All-Star game as a member of the Nets.
So that’s twice now that Kyrie failed to secure a reunion with LeBron James.
Kyrie reportedly wanted to join LeBron on the Lakers, but the Nets allegedly made sure to send him anywhere but there.
Perhaps he’ll be able to finish this night with a win on the court at least.
