Clean beauty is a notoriously poorly defined and ill-regulated category, which is why we created our own Allure Clean Standard for brands to follow in order to be considered “clean” in our book. That said, it’s quite a challenge to find beauty brands that are both clean and effective. However, one that has been doing it right for years is Youth to the People. After winning numerous Best of Beauty and Readers’ Choice Awards with us, there’s no denying our love for this skin-care brand.
After being founded in 2015 by co-founders Greg Gonzalez and Joe Cloyes, the duo maintains its promise to its fanbase to create a positive impact on the world, all while benefiting your skin. So how do they do it? It’s through partnerships with nonprofit organizations, or what they call the Good To The People Funds, that support leaders making waves in the areas of climate, gender equity, racial equity, and human rights.
The brand is also committed to the planet. All Youth to the People products are packaged in glass jars and bottles, rather than plastic, and all of the brand’s formulations are made in California and sourced from local suppliers whenever possible. Plus, the brand believes in utilizing raw materials that give you skin-boosting results. Sure, you may have never considered kale or spinach in your face wash but the benefits of these antioxidants are phenomenal.
