Thomas Tuchel is told that Bayern Munich are OUT of the race for £100m Declan Rice – with the Bundesliga champions convinced the West Ham star will join Arsenal

Thomas Tuchel is set to be disappointed in his pursuit of Declan Rice, with Bayern Munich now out of the race to sign the West Ham captain, according to reports in Germany.

The former Chelsea manager is an ardent admirer of the England star and had hoped the club would make Rice  their record signing to convince the player to make the move to Bavaria.

But as Mail Sport reported at the start of June, the midfielder is said to favour a move that keeps him in the Premier League, with Arsenal considered the frontrunners for his signature.

Manchester United is another English club interested in securing the services of Rice next season after it was confirmed by West Ham’s co-chairman David Sullivan that the player will be moving on from east London this summer.

The Europa Conference League winner is set to command a price tag that could be as high as £100million.

As per BILD, this news has convinced Bayern Munich to shut down plans to tempt the 24-year-old to the Bundesliga.

Tuchel is believed to have been informed of the club’s decision – made by their newly-formed Sports Committee – on Tuesday morning.

Bayern’s transfer decisions will be made by this committee of seven in the wake of club’s recent sacking of chief executive Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, both of whom were dismissed hours after the team’s last-gasp seizing of their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title in May.

The committee counts Tuchel among its ranks and includes technical director Marco Neppe, board members Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rumenigge, president Herbert Hanier, new CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, and CFO Michael Diederich.

The committee’s decision will mean that the club will try as hard as possible to hold onto Joshua Kimmich, who is capable of playing the same role in defensive midfield as Rice.

The Germany international is being courted by Barcelona, but head coach Xavi stressed that they would only open formal talks with the player if Bayern were willing to let their player go.

The committee’s Tuesday meeting also outlined the club’s plans for Lucas Hernandez, who has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman is said to have agreed personal terms with the Qatari-backed club, but on Tuesday sought a meeting with player supervisor Johannes Mosmang and Neppe to receive more clarity over his future with Bayern.

For their part, Bayern are reportedly interested in handing Hernandez a brand-new deal that would extend his stay in Munich for four years – the defender is currently under contract until the summer of 2024.

Should no agreement be reached, Bayern would entertain offers of at least £42million (€50m),  to ensure that Hernandez doesn’t leave the club for free in just over a year’s time.

PSG are looking to invest heavily during this summer’s transfer window, with Manuel Ugarte of Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram amongst their top targets.

The Parisian giants may yet have to content with the loss of star man Kylian Mbappe too, after the France captain’s bombshell declaration of his intent to see out the final year of his contract and depart as a free agent in 2024.

In an effort to avoid losing the player for nothing, PSG are believed to be preparing to entertain offers for the 2018 World Cup winnner.
