Tiku Weds Shuru trailer launch: “People in my hometown would ask me, ‘Humne suna hai Hema Malini 500 ke note mein chillum peeti hai; aisa sach mein hota hai kya?’” – Nawazuddin Siddiqui : Bollywood News – Bollywood Hungama

The trailer of the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Avneet Kaur starrer Tiku Weds Sheru was launched today at an event in Mumbai. Nawazuddin brought the house down when he was asked if there are any similarities between him and his character of Sheru. The actor revealed just like Sheru, he also faced a tough time when he would go back to his hometown in his struggling days.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “There’s a quirkiness in his character. That’s something I love in real life as well. Sheru is a junior artist but fir bhi woh badi badi baatein karta hai aur usme believe bhi karta hai.”

He added, “There were similarities. When I used to back to my village, I used to be asked, ‘Kya chal raha hai Bambai mein? Kya ho raha hai tumhara?’. I would reply, ‘Ho raha hai. Bahut jaldi aani waali hai (meri film). When I used to go back to the village the next time, they would remark, ‘Tum jo bol ke gaye the pichli baar, woh sab toh hua nahin’. As a result, there came a time when I didn’t head to my hometown for 4-5 years, wondering ki unko main kya jawaab dunga (laughs)!”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui then stated, “When villagers used to meet me, they would ask me, ‘Filmon mein sach mucch kissing hoti hai?’. I would say, ‘Haan, sach mucch mein hota hai. Aisi hi thodi hoga?’! They would also ask, ‘Humne suna hai Hema Malini 500 ke note mein chillum peeti hai; aisa sach mein hota hai kya?’”

Kangana Ranaut, the producer of Tiku Weds Sheru, was also present at the event and she added, “My family members and relatives would ask me, ‘Amitabh Bachchan ke saath photo hai tumhara?’. This is when I attended multiple award functions as I was nominated for my performance in my debut film Gangster (2006). That’s when I had seen him. I told them ki ‘Maine dekha hai unko’. They retorted, ‘Unke saath photo nahin li tune? Photo leni chahiye thi’. Toh yeh chote gaav waalon ke saath bahut hota hai. Mujhe bhi shuru shuru mein bahut dikkat aati thi’.”

Tiku Weds Sheru will release directly on Amazon Prime Video on June 23.
