Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a huge blow to their hopes of signing Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.

Spurs have been linked with a sensational bid for the Portugal international after his manager in Spain, Diego Simeone, reportedly changed his stance over the forward who he now no longer sees as ‘unsellable’. But the striker has spoken out about the transfer links as he played down the possibility that he could leave Atletico this summer.

It comes as Spurs boss Antonio Conte is thought to be targeting a fresh name at centre-back in Mohamed Simakan, who has been described as a “phenomenon” by a former manager. And Anthony Gordon has shown his admiration for Son Heung-Min as Spurs boss Conte eyes a raid on Premier League rivals Everton this summer.

Here are Mirror Football’s latest Tottenham Hotspur headlines.

Felix blow

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has ruled out a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Spurs had been linked with the Portuguese forward in a move that may have involved Giovani Lo Celso, who Atletico boss Diego Simeone is thought to be a fan of. But it appears the switch is offf, with Felix insisting he is “fine and focused on Atlético”.

He also said a “departure from Atlético is not on the table” in what will be a significant transfer blow for Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici as they aim to build a side capable of challenging for silverware next season.

Simakan targeted

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig centre-back Mohamed Simakan.

Reports suggest the club’s scouts have been watching the French defender for a while, with Conte keen to add quality in defence during this summer’s transfer window. According to football.london, his former Strasbourg B team manager, Francois Keller, previously described Simakan as a “phenomenon” who “tore up the place”.

The coach also predicted the defender could be the “new Varane” as he is “athletic, powerful, assured and calm”. And that may be exactly why Antonio Conte wants to bring the defender to north London, and he could be available for around £26million.

Gordon sends Son message

Everton’s Anthony Gordon has shown his admiration for Son Heung-Min amid reports Antonio Conte is eying a raid on the Premier League outfit this summer.

Spurs have already been linked with a blockbuster move for his Everton teammate Richarlison, with football.london reporting the club are also exploring a move for Gordon. It is claimed that Spurs director Fabio Paratici would like to bring the pair to the club “in a deal which could cost as much as £86.2million”.

Gordon could help the club bolster their homegrown contingent following the departures of Dele Alli, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Harry Winks. And Gordon has already fuelled the speculation with his praise of Son Heung-Min, who he claimed may be his Greatest Of All Time.
