Tottenham to receive Man Utd transfer favour in boost to Postecoglou plans

Manchester United may be in the process of doing Tottenham a massive favour. The Red Devil’s recent move for Andre Onana means Inter Milan are now looking to take Hugo Lloris off Spur’s books as their replacement for the Cameroonian shot-stopper, according to reports.

Lloris has one year remaining on his deal with the north Londoners and is looking to move away this summer after the recent capture of Guglielmo Vicario. Vicario signed in June for £17.2million from Empoli following a woeful campaign from the Frenchman and is expected to start between the sticks next season.

But even before the signing, Lloris had hinted that his intention was to leave in the summer. Speaking to Nice-Matin, he said: “We are coming to an important moment, whether for the club or for me.

“It’s the end of an era. I have desires for other things, I will ask myself quietly to study what will be possible. But I don’t forget that I still have a year of contract with Tottenham and that in football it is always difficult to predict what will happen.

“What is essential at the moment is to recover well from my injury. I’m on vacation but I continue to talk and do my training. My goal is to be on top in July, then we’ll see what the future holds for me.”

According to FootMercato, his future may lie at Inter, who are said to be ‘intensifying’ talks with Lloris after Man Utd increased their push for Onana. United initially bid £38.5m for the 27-year-old but have since submitted an improved offer worth £42.7m.

Inter are hoping for a fee closer to £50m and are expected to reject the latest offer, however, Man Utd remain optimistic that they will get their man. Erik ten Hag managed Onana at Ajax and the Dutchman believes the player is the perfect replacement for the recently departed David de Gea.

If they are unable to snap up Onana then Brighton’s Robert Sanchez, Brentford’s David Raya, Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp and Justin Bijlow of Feyenoord have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer. According to Sky Sports, United are still interested in acquiring Raya’s services if the Onana bid doesn’t come off despite initial reports suggesting that the English giants were turned off by Brentford’s £40m asking price for the Spain international, who was among the best-performing keepers in the Premier League last season.
