Former Towie star Lauren Goodger’s ex-boyfriend Jake McLean was under the influence when he died in a car crash, an inquest revealed.

The fatal collision happened in Bodrum, Turkey last year on July 3 while on holiday with his then-girlfriend and Towie cast member Yazmin Oukhellou – who was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

When McLean, 33, lost control of his Mercedes E-class that ultimately landed upside down in a ravine near the Turkish city, he was nearly three times over the drink-drive limit and on cocaine.

The inquest in Walthamstow was carried out last week and documents obtained by Metro.co.uk revealed ‘whilst driving a motor vehicle in Bodrum Turkey, he crashed and was pronounced life extinct at the scene’.

They also listed his medical cause of death as ‘traumatic head injuries’.

According to MailOnline, Coroner Dr Shirley Ratcliffe said: ‘The post mortem found no natural disease, as you would expect in a young man of 33. The cause of death was skull fractures and brain damage.

‘As far as I can see, he was driving under the influence nearly three times over the legal limit for driving and had cocaine in his system. My conclusion is that this is an RTC.’

He was then asked by the late property developer’s mother Anita Walsh whether he could offer any more details about her son’s death to which he replied: ‘Turkey is not the most helpful — it’s taken almost a year to get the post mortem.’

Following the accident, Yazmin was left with severe injuries and underwent cosmetic procedures to rectify the damage done to her appearance.

She opened up about the fateful day and revealed she was suffering from PTSD, nightmares, flashbacks and panic attacks as a result of the crash.

The reality star told The Sun: ‘I tried to wake Jake up, but he wasn’t waking. I tried to beep the horn with my foot, but I couldn’t reach it.

‘We were in the middle of nowhere and so screaming for help wasn’t any good. I knew I had to get out of the car and somehow I found the strength to free my arm by lifting it with my left hand, moving my right arm up and dropping it back down for what felt like forever until I snapped it free.’

In an attempt to ‘unsee what she saw’, the TV personality also revealed she was seeking help from a therapist.
