Spoiler Warning: This story contains SPOILERS for Transformers: Rise of the BeastsThe future looks to be very exciting for the Transformers franchise, given the big tease that came at the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Now playing in movie theaters, the film brings about the latest chapter of the live-action Transformers movie series. One of the most shocking moments comes in an end scene, as it reveals a crossover with the G.I. Joe franchise, teasing how Noah (Anthony Ramos) has been invited to join the secret organization. That helps set up an inevitable Transformers, G.I. Joe crossover film, and the very idea of that concept seems like a lot of fun.

For Anthony Ramos, it couldn’t be more exciting to be present for the merging of Transformers and G.I. Joe in the new film. Speaking about the situation with Collider, Ramos revealed how it felt when he first learned about the crossover. He recalls director Steven Caple Jr. first asking him about the scene, and though the actor wasn’t sure it was even possible, he was immediately stoked. It reminds him of his childhood when he’d imagine fantasy battles between the characters from both franchises, as Ramos explains:

“I was going crazy. Crazy! When Steven told me, he’s like, ‘Yo, bro, what do you think about ending the movie like this?’ I was like, ‘If y’all can get that approved – there’s a lot of people to get that approved, man, but if you can, that’ll be the craziest thing.’ And they did, man. As a fan of those worlds… ‘G.I. Joe,’ bro! I mean, I used to have the little figurines, bro. I used to create wars between [them]. I was just so excited!”

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura also spoke about the surprise with Collider. While this ending scene teases a major crossover movie with Transformers and G.I. Joe, di Bonaventura clarified that such an epic film won’t be coming in the immediate future. The plan is to instead slowly have these characters interspersing in one another’s worlds leading up to the ultimate crossover film. As the producer puts it:

“So the idea of a crossover, I’m not sure I understand even the terminology in the sense that, it doesn’t suddenly become the two worlds together. You’re gonna make a decision about what the story is. What we will have is a character, or three, or whatever. So there will be Joe characters, but it is fusing into the Transformers world for this next movie. […] Imagine – this is not accurate, but imagine you were doing a dirty dozen, suddenly three of them would be Joe. So, we’re introducing Joe elements into this, and eventually, that can grow into a lot of different directions, right?”

In any case, it’s certainly exciting to think about what’s next for big fans of both franchises. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is now playing in movie theaters.
